last year, failure, trying again

Monday, September 2, 2013
okay, its been over a year since I have even written in here, and worse yet, have only accomplished one thing.
I finally quit smoking - yay!
Eating not so well.  Today I'm trying again by going on a juice cleanse until Friday, 5 days.  I haven't checked with my Dr., so I'm not sure if I should go longer, but I will check
This morning I had a 2 apple, orange smoothie.

my diet needs to change now!

Okay, I'm going to try to plan out my meals each day. I think that is always a problem, reaching for whatever is handy and easy. My Doctor suggested making a pot of brown rice, keep it in the fridge and have some everyday with steamed vegetables. I will do this.  I am focusing on that and to omit white products - ex: flour, sugar, pasta (except whole grain) etc for this week.
Last week I got in the habit of eating a piece of fruit with or after every meal.  Next is making sure there is a veggie in every meal - breakfast may be a challenge.

Quitting Smoking

This is, I was going to say harder but its not, harder than changing my eating habits.  They are both two significant lifestyle changes.
I actually have been having a very challenging time trying to quit since my heart attack.  My husband is a smoker and agreed to get on board with my plight.  We have tried pills in the past, cold turkey - tried it all and decided to try a treatment from the "electromedical Stimulation".
It stimulates nerve endings in the ear.  There were no needles, and all you would feel was a pinch.  My husband and I are on day 2, no withdrawals, maybe a desire once in awhile, but then I realize - I am a non smoker - my brain has been reset.
So, I will continue to replace my bad habits with good.  I have replaced smoking with short walks to get me started and keep my metabolism going.
My husband is amazed that he is not going through withdrawal from smoking and so am I - wish us luck!!
